Questlove’s ‘Summer of Soul’ Takes Top Documentary Prizes at Sundance

“Summer of Soul” took both the audience prize & grand jury prize in the U.S. documentary section.

CODA has won the top award at the Sundance Film Festival, taking this year’s U.S. Grand Jury prize, while Questlove’s Summer of Soul won both the audience and grand jury prize in the U.S. documentary section.

CODA, which made headlines earlier in the fest for its record-breaking $25 million sale to Apple, took the dramatic audience award with Sian Heder taking the directing award for U.S. dramatic competition. “I hope that this opened the door to people getting that audiences want to see these kinds of stories,” said Heder of the title, which centers on a hearing teenage girl that is a child of deaf adults. “I hope that this means that more stories that center on deaf characters and characters with disability get put front and center.”

Broadway At DPAC Has A Brand New Name

DPAC and TRUIST Financial Corporation announced today that DPAC’s signature Broadway series will be renamed TRUIST Broadway at DPAC. Truist Broadway at DPAC will maintain the legacy of SunTrust Broadway, which since 2008 has brought the biggest new Broadway productions from New York and London stages to the Triangle.

“SunTrust has been a valued partner since DPAC’s inception, and we look forward to beginning this next chapter with them as Truist,” said Rachel Traversari, Senior Director of Marketing at DPAC.

The 46-year-old pastry chef and Food Network star announced on Monday (February 1) that he and wife Johnna welcomed their first child together, a baby girl named Josephine.

“I have no words to describe this blessing. @johnnapgoldman and I made a baby! Her name is Josephine and she is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen in the whole world,” Duff wrote on Instagram. “Some friends have told me that the love I’ll experience when looking at my daughter will be different than anything I’ve ever experienced and they were totally right.”
